CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN                                                                                                

Create. Construction Management Group is seeking an experienced construction foreman. The right candidate must be comfortable in a leadership role and be able to communicate effectively with their crew and project manager. In this position you will be all hands on deck, overseeing crew and sub contractors. You will be responsible for scheduling and overseeing trades, deliveries and inspections.



  • 2+ years in a foreman role within the construction industry
  • Must be a journeyman with experience in a related trade
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with ability to work and communicate effectively with a workforce of diverse backgrounds, education and experience level
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to resolve complex problems
  • Ability to work independently as well as being a team player
  • Accountable and dependable
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to collect and interpret data and apply it in a practical approach
  • Responsive to jobsite needs and/or concerns


Site Specific Duties

  • Plan the jobsite tasks for the crew and optimize the team to achieve and maintain maximum productivity while ensuring labour and material costs are kept to a minimum
  • Ensure you regularly review the most up-to-date work plan and provide updates for short interval work schedules; demonstrate the ability to look four weeks into the future and plan ahead
  • Coordinate, direct and monitor the activities of all assigned subcontractors
  • Develop and maintain production targets and completion dates.


Site Safety

  • Support and enforce the site safety plan along with the Site Safety Coordinator
  • Perform jobsite cleanup on a daily basis as it becomes necessary



  • Manage the optimum crew size and make adjustments as needed to maintain top crew performance
  • Review and submit time sheets for all site crew members; ensure staff names, number of hours worked, cost coding and narrative of the work performed is accurate
  • Hold regular toolbox meetings with site staff to outline workforce planning

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related Engineering or Construction Management discipline or equivalent work experience.

  • A minimum of 10 years progressive construction experience, including 5-7 years of direct Site Supervision in a commercial or light industrial environment.

  • Must hold at least one of the following designations C.E.T., P.Tech., PMP, GSC.

  • Knowledge of different construction methods, sequencing, problem solving and timelines.

  • Familiar with project management software programs such as Microsoft Project.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • In-depth experience with CCDC contracts (CCCA would be considered and asset).

  • Ability to understand and employ engineering/construction plans/specifications, methods and procedures.

  • Knowledge of relevant construction law and building codes.

  • Ability to solve problems related to construction, sequencing and staffing.

  • A vehicle available for work purposes is required.





  • Own and champion construction schedule with all stakeholders.

  • Based on approved schedule, monitor, supervise and inspect coordination and completion of contractor and vendor tasks/work.

  • Manage change requests to ensure they meet approved resource and construction budget costs and approved timeline.

  • Produce weekly budget vs. actual cost and timeline variance reports to track impact to approved costs and timelines.

  • Produce daily and weekly project updates to the Project Manager.

  • Lead deficiency, consultant and authority inspections and resolutions with cross-functional teams, trades, vendors, contractors and team members.

  • Procure construction material and coordinate acceptance of site deliveries.

  • Review vendor and contractor field tickets and invoices for payment.

  • Chair daily trade meetings and health and safety meetings.

  • Champion Safety Program compliance.
